(Carl) Kim Allender:  

I am married to classmate Pam Elliott and we celebrated our 57th Anniversary in 2022. I retired in 2008 after 15 1/2 years of teaching 5th grade, a second career for me after 25 years in the corporate business world. Pam is also a retired teacher. While teaching I was co-president of my local teachers association for six years. We have two daughters and a son along with four granddaughters and two grandsons. We are docents at the Autry Museum of the American West and up until the COVID 19 shutdown we enjoyed touring school groups at the museum. In 2023 we are gradually returning to guiding school groups but the high cost of buses for field trips along with a shortage of funding for schools is limiting our docent activities. In the summer of 2022 I started to become active in the local Sierra Club and am now working with the Angeles Chapter on advocacy of clean transportation projects. In 2021 we got our COVID booster shots in early September and then set off on a six-week, 6600-mile round trip car excursion to Michigan. The goal was to visit my sister and brother-in-law (Karen and Dave) at their new house in Ann Arbor. They now live on the same street with their daughter Joy, her husband Joe, and Karen and Dave's grandsons, Austin and Ash.
